This week the Bucks Free Press asked readers for the best bakery in Bucks.

Following fierce debate here are the top five as chosen by you.

1) Progress Bakery, Hazlemere – This family run bakery was a reader favourite. They pledge to use as much local produce as possible and have tables indoors and outdoors, weather permitting! One reader said: “Fantastic service with fresh food to go of the highest quality. It’s certainly progress on other bakeries in town!” First opened in 1895 it has been family run since 1976, and now owned by Sarah Gannon. She wants to bring a community feel to the bakery, and from what our readers say she definitely has.

2) The Village Bakery, Wooburn Green – Known for its reasonable prices and freshly baked bread, it’s a must-go for the people of Wooburn Green and worth the journey for those further away. In the summer they have a BBQ every Thursday offering everything from fresh burgers to chicken skewers, not something every bakery offers!

3) New York Deli, Aylesbury - A popular breakfast and lunch spot. Serving salads. paninis, baguettes, cakes and more you’ll be spoilt for choice. The modern style bakery/cafe is fitted out with rustic tables and chairs creating a great space to have a quick coffee or a long lunch and chat. One reader said the bakery serve “The nicest chicken and bacon wraps you could ever imagine .”

4) Wenzel’s, High Wycombe - Walking through the Eden Centre it’s almost impossible to ignore the heart-warming smell of freshly baked bread wafting from the shop, and even though Wenzel’s is a chain it’s still much loved by the people of Wycombe. They boast a wide-variety of sweet and savoury snacks all of good value. One customer said: “The staff in Wenzel’s are so friendly, I actually leave with a smile on my face.”
