GREAT Western Hospital is planning to use government funding to meet the needs of Swindon’s growing population.

The hospital received £30 million this year to help 'create an environment that meets the patients' needs'.

A new national recruitment campaign has been launched by NHS England to work on getting more nurses on board.

GWH staff currently treat 1.2 million patients a year and midwifery staff deliver over 4,000 babies.

It is on the lookout for more people to join its nursing team at the hospital as the population of the town grows.

Its chief nurse Julie Marshman said: “To be a nurse today means working in a role with real purpose that can make a difference to people’s lives. Nursing thrives from passion, and the desire to help others.

“Great Western Hospital has so much to offer, from working at the bedside to visiting patients out in their own homes.”
