Booth House is set to compete in the Salvation Army’s annual homelessness football tournament.

Players from the charity’s centre on Spring Close have all experienced homelessness and will go head-to-head next week against more than 25 teams from across the Salvation Army’s homelessness services.

Now in its ninth year, TV pundit and Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson will be the special guest at this year’s Partnership Trophy in Manchester on Wednesday.

Mark said: “I’m privileged to be attending this tournament and I look forward to meeting the teams.

“Events like this show what a positive impact football and sport in general can have on someone’s physical and mental health.

He added: “Finding something you enjoy and can share with others is vital in improving quality of life.”

Director of the Salvation Army’s Homelessness Services Mitch Menagh said: “The Partnership Trophy is a celebration of everything our residents have overcome and achieved.

"It’s a day for everyone in our services to come together – staff, volunteers and service users alike - for some healthy competition and a bit of fun.”
