AN ESTRANGED husband was said to have chased down the street a man he saw holding hands with his wife.

Tomasz Dryja is banned from going to Broad Street by a restraining order, placed on him by the courts last year after he was convicted of coercive and controlling behaviour.

Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard this weekend how he had been spotted by his former partner on the Broadgreen street on Friday, as she returned from a shopping trip to Tesco with a male friend.

The 41-year-old had initially looked shocked, then followed the man at walking-pace then breaking into a run. It was claimed Dryja had clenched his fists and was remonstrating with the man, with his ex-wife getting between them.

Dryja, of Spring Close, Swindon, admitted breaching the terms of a restraining order. John Berry, defending, said his client had not realised he was prevented from being on Broad Street – only that he could not go to his ex’s home.

Dryja and his ex had been separated since 2017, but there had been no divorce application filed. He was said to find this situation frustrating.

Magistrates sentenced to complete 40 rehabilitation activity days and 130 hours of unpaid work. He must pay a £90 victim surcharge and £35 costs.
