For this week’s Reader Recommends, we asked readers where the best place in Swindon is to get a sandwich.

Here's the top 5 as recommended by you...

Swindon Advertiser:

The most popular choice for the best sandwich offering in town went to Fillerz.

The sandwich bar and cafe is in Brunel’s Crossing.

Tom Hardy said: “Fillerz in the Brunel Centre is great value for money and it’s amazing food.”

Andy Richards agreed saying: “Fillerz is the best in town by a long way.”

Some of the fillings at the cafe include coronation chicken, tuna and chicken mayo. The shop offers jacket potatoes, full English breakfasts and nachos.

Swindon Advertiser:

Another popular recommendation from Adver readers was Franklin's Sandwich Shop.

Located in The Crossing, close to Fillerz, Franklin's is a family-run business that puts an emphasis on meat sandwiches.

Brian Baker said: “Franklin's in the Crossing, you won’t be disappointed.”

Carl Robertson added: “Franklin's, no contest.”

Dawn Sturgess joined in on the praise and said: “Everyone go and try Franklin's and see for yourself.”

Franklin's also serves wraps, salads and toasties.

Swindon Advertiser:

Baristocats proved to be the sandwich shop choice for many readers.

The cafe is on Commercial Road in the town centre.

On the Adver website, Qualia said: “It’s always Baristocats on Commercial Road for me.

“They make them up exactly as you want to order on fresh baked breads or as paninis.

“Brilliant value as well.”

Although making an effort to promote the coffee as a key selling point, it has clearly made a name for itself in the sandwich-making business.

Swindon Advertiser:

Although not a sandwich shop, the Bolingbroke Arms near Royal Wootton Bassett was recommended.

Carly Saunders said: “The Bolingbroke Arms does a pan-fried steak ciabatta and it’s the best!”

Gillian Moore agreed with the recommendation and added: “It does great sandwiches.”

The Bolingbroke Arms is an Arkells-owned pub, which offers hot sandwiches as part of its lunch menu, provides a variety of fillings such as fillet steak, grilled bacon and halloumi cheese.

It offers more traditional fillings such as cheese and ham.

Swindon Advertiser:

The final recommendation from Adver readers was the Baguette Bar.

Located in Prospect Place in Old Town, the it offers a variety of specials, which have previously included home-cooked pulled pork with cheese and smoked peppered mackerel.

The Best From The East on the Advertiser website said: “Bacon, black pud and brown sauce, best butty in town.”

Liz Potts recommended the cafe, using a love eyes emoji to show her support.

In a long list of fillings, the Baguette Bar regularly offers chicken and turkey as well as pork, beef, prawns and eggs.

Prices for sandwiches range from £3-£4 with an extra charge for extra fillings.
