The third annual Make It! & More craft fair at Steam brought together creative minds from across the town.

Opened by TV crafter Julie Peasgood, of Crafty Beggars fame, it showcased everything from woodwork to knitting.

Alongside the stalls and discussions, visitors could take part in a variety of workshops that would teach them new skills and new crafts.

Organiser Jennie Turner-Maskell said: “This event is unusual in the fact that, not only do we have craft suppliers and handmade goods, but we have the workshop areas so that people can come and try a different craft that they might not have attempted before.

“It's been really good. It’s obviously building up, but the attendance has been climbing each year and children can come in free.”

Julie Peasgood, who works with Jennie on craft cruises, added: “It’s the third year and I haven’t been able to come before because I’ve been away but I thought ‘I’d love to come down’ because it’s a phenomenal team.

“The therapeutic benefits of crafting have been proven. It’s fantastic for wellbeing in terms of reducing stress, making us feel an incredible sense of fulfilment when we create something completely original and it’s great for relaxing. It’s brilliant for socialising and to meet new people.

“I’m a passionate crafter and this is a crafting event that I just hope will be hugely successful.”
