A TRIO alleged to have battered a man with a bicycle seat will face a crown court judge.

Three boys, all of whom are 17-years-old and from north or west Swindon, appeared before Swindon Youth Court to face a charge they unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm with intent.

The assault is alleged to have taken place on July 16 last year.

Magistrates deemed the allegations so serious they sent the case to Swindon Crown Court.

The boys, who cannot be named as they are under-18, were bailed to appear before the crown court on October 25.

In the adult courts, Sentencing Council guidelines suggest those convicted of unlawful wounding - a so-called Section 18 GBH - potentially attracts life imprisonment. In the youth court it is a two year detention and training order.
