WALKERS will unite against dementia at an event aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

On Saturday, a walking party leave Purton Village Hall at 10am to follow a set 3.7km walk around the village and local countryside.

The event aims to raise awareness and funds for people affected by dementia.

Deborah Lawrence, one of the organisers, is encouraging the everyone to rally behind the cause.

She said: “A community that cares and shows compassion is a community that will strive to make change."

Operations manager of the Memory Walk Lauren McEvoy added: “Memory Walk unites people against dementia as they walk in celebration of family members, friends and colleagues affected by the condition.

“Every penny raised through Memory Walk will help Alzheimer’s Society find a cure, improve care and support people.”
