A THIEF stole a woman’s purse while she shopped in the town centre.
The victim, who is in her 70s, noticed her purse was missing while in Marks & Spencer in Regent Street shortly after 11am on September 19.
She had just been to the nearby HSBC, where she withdrew £300. The purse contained bank cards which the thief attempted to use at various shops.
PC Stephen Yeates said: “We believe the victim had been watched in HSBC by the thief, who saw her withdraw the money.
“We would also urge people to always be vigilant when using an ATM. Please be careful that no-one is standing close by when you withdraw money, and be careful to keep your purse and other valuables safe in a zipped up bag.”
Anyone with information about the theft should call PC Yeates on 101.
