A LONDONER who dealt drugs across the country - including in Swindon - has been jailed for five years.
Yayha Sheik was caught peddling drugs in the town in September. In custody, he tried to get rid of £1,000-worth of crack cocaine and heroin he had stashed on his person. The disposal was caught on CCTV.
Having been released on court bail the 25-year-old was picked up in Cambridge in December 2016 again working for a County Line drugs gang.
Sheik was bailed to attend court. He failed to turn up and was on the run for almost two years.
This week, he pleaded guilty at Peterborough Crown Court to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. He was jailed for five years.
PC Gareth Snoad said: “We recognise the real negative impact those involved in County Lines can have on members of the public and we are dedicated to tackling it. I am really pleased with this result.
"This case shows that if you are arrested by the police in Swindon, no matter how long you try to evade the consequences, we will continue to locate and prosecute you.
“I would encourage the local community to help us by being our additional eyes and ears and passing any information on to us, which will lead to action being taken."
