A display of the new Wichelstowe M4 tunnel is being put on show by Swindon Borough Council.

Hosted at the Deanery Academy, people can see the plans on Thursday, between 12pm and 4pm, and on Tuesday, October 22, between 3pm and 7pm.

The project will cost £26m and aims to help create 2,000 jobs by freeing up land earmarked for new businesses close to the 4,500-home development.

The Department for Transport has allocated £22.9m of the funding with the council providing the additional £3m.

In 2020, the section of the M4 will have a 50mph limit and restriction will be in place as lanes are narrowed but the council has confirmed three lanes will be kept on both sides.

Carriageways will be moved one at a time on to a widened opposite carriageway while the tunnel is built. Restrictions will be in place for 10 months.
