A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a man on a manslaughter charge three years after the death of a woman at a "slapping therapy" workshop.

Sussex grandomother Danielle Carr-Gomm, 71, died at a paida lajin therapy course at Cleeve House country house hotel, Seend, in October 2016. The controversial treatment involves patients being slapped vigorously.

Now, the Crown Prosecution Service has given Wiltshire Police the green light to charge Hong Chi Xiao, 56, whose registered address is in California, with gross negligence manslaughter

A warrant for his arrest was issued at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on October 4.

Two other people arrested at the time of the incident have been released with no further action.

At the time, Mrs Carr-Gomm's son Matthew said his mother had been trying alternative therapies after being diagnosed with diabetes in 1999. He told the BBC: "She had a lifelong fear of needles so she struggled with the diagnosis and initially took a course of tablets instead."
