FREE tyre checks and advice will be on offer at the Orbital Shopping Park next week.
Between Monday, October 21 and Thursday, October 25 – and as part of National Tyre Safety month – Highways England will have a stand and gazebo at the retail area to allow Protyre, PCL and Kwikfit to carry out checks.
A traffic officer vehicle, fire engine and the police engagement vehicle will also be on site.
A spokesman for Highways England said: “The aim of the day is to raise awareness on roads and the importance of correct tyre maintenance and dangers of part worn, part safe tyres.
“Tyre related incidents are a big problem and therefore it is critical that we get out there and raise awareness, remind and encourage people to check their tyres on a regular basis.
“Many people may think that slightly underinflated tyres won’t be a significant problem, but when combined with other risks the effect on vehicles handling and the risk of losing control can be very significant.”
The event will run from 10am until 3.30pm each day.
