NOTORIOUS “muggers alley” has been the scene of stabbings, a murder and robberies over the past decade.

Five years after a man was discovered murdered near the tunnel, the underpass between Station Road and Great Western Way today claimed its latest victim.

Police say the Ferndale Road stabbing victim, named by eyewitnesses only as “Steven”, was followed from the alleyway at around 1.45pm. Officers were called at around 2.15pm.

In recent years there have been a number of calls for better CCTV in the alleyway after a number of attacks.

Those assaults include:

:: The murder of Tom Rogers in June 2014. He was stabbed 20 times in the neck and chest in the random attack. In 2015, killer Jason Voong was detained indefinitely after being found guilty of manslaughter.

:: In June this year, a man was stabbed in the buttocks and robbed of £40.
