HINDUS in Swindon will get together this weekend to celebrate a one of their most important religious festivals.
Kali Puja and Diwali Celebration will take place at the Punjabi Community Centre from 4:30pm to 9pm on October 27.
President of Swindon Sanatan association Sumon Roy said: “We honour Kali, a Hindu goddess and will also celebrate Diwali.
“Diwali is a festival of lights, a light that helps remove the evil from the world.
“There will be around 200 people attending the festival to celebrate a cultural event.”
The event will feature a fireworks display, a raffle, a DJ and a show organised by the community, including dancing and singing performances.
The group is also organising a drawing competition for the little ones. This will be held from 3pm to 4pm on the day.
Swindon mayor Kevin Parry will be a special guest the event.
And everyone is welcome to join the festival, regardless of their religious beliefs.
The group is a charity organisation which relies on donations. People are encouraged to contribute throughout the night.
