THOSE responsible for throwing rocks at cars on the A419 were damned as mindless by police.

At around 8.30pm on Wednesday, rocks struck three vehicles driving along the A419 northbound near the White Hart roundabout.

Damage was caused to the windscreens of a lorry, VW Polo and a Vauxhall Corsa.

PC Ben Cox said: “It is extremely fortunate that nobody was injured.

“This kind of behaviour is completely mindless and could so easily have resulted in serious injury to multiple road users.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen who was responsible, as well as any other drivers who may have been affected but have not yet contacted police.

“We’d also urge any drivers who were using the A419 at around 8.30pm who may have dash cams fitted to their vehicles to get in touch as you may have unknowingly captured vital footage.”

In May, a police car was damaged in similar circumstances. A rock was thrown at the patrol car from the side of the A419, near the turn-off for the A420 northbound.

At the time, Insp Colin Conway said: "This is an idiotic, reckless thing to do which could have ended up as a fatality."
