COMMUNITY wildlife project Naturehood is encouraging Swindon residents to support wildlife before winter comes.
Earthwatch Europe’s scheme is launching the One Thing for Wildlife campaign urging people to support nature before hibernation begins.
The Naturehood team is promoting key actions for people to complete during autumn, including installing hedgehog homes, nest boxes for sparrows and building insect homes.
Naturehood research manager Dr Tristan Pett said: “The nights are drawing in, which means that now is the time to help local wildlife get ready for winter. The actions people take now can make a real difference to some of our favourite species, like sparrows and hedgehogs, and ensure they get the best possible start when spring comes.”
Joanna Morris, Naturehood’s community engagement officer in Swindon, will host drop-ins on Tuesday afternoons at the John Moulton Hall, Penhill from today.
