A TEENAGE boy was arrested as part of an investigation into an attempted robbery in Swindon.

Information from members of the public given after an appeal for witnesses to the Croft Trail crime led to the arrest of a 15-year-old.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and formally interviewed by detectives.

The boy has since been released under investigation while the force's enquiries continue.

The attempted robbery happened on Saturday October 26. A cyclist in his 30s was travelling along the Croft Trail at around 1.15pm when two men approached him.

The pair threatened him and tried to steal his bike but the victim managed to cycle away without anything being stolen.

Police are continuing to appeal for people with information about the incident to come forward.

The first suspect is described as white, in his late teens, over 6ft tall, with a young face and bushy eyebrows.

He was wearing a black North Face jacket and light blue denim jeans which were elasticated around the ankles, along with white Nike trainers.

The second suspect was also white and of a similar age, but shorter - around 5ft 9ins tall.

His hair was shaved at the sides and short on top, and he was wearing a green bomber jacket and dark jeans and trainers. He also had a tattoo on his hand.

Both men spoke with local accents and the one wearing the black jacket was carrying a kitchen knife.
