THE retailer Clarks have warned that stores across the country could be closed next year as its profits have fallen.
It has more than 1,000 stores worldwide with three based in Swindon that could be as risk of closing.
The shoe store has had profits plummet by 4.6 per cent to £1.47 billion in the last year.
These losses have already caused 18 stores in the UK to shut up shop and now there are plans for more to close next year.
Three of the Clarks in Swindon at Greenbridge Retail Park, The Parade Shopping Centre and Swindon Designer Outlet are still open but could close in 2020.
It was first opened by Cyrus and James Clark in 1825 with 553 stores in the country.
