JUNIOR football players and their families did their bit to remember the fallen by raising more than £600 for the Poppy Appeal.

The youngsters of Stratton Juniors took to the pitch for their matches at the weekend with poppies on their shirts.

A spokesman for the club said: "This weekend, all their players wore a poppy on their shirts to show respect for and remember all those that have lost their lives in conflicts around the world or in acts of terrorism.

"The club purchased 350 poppies and these have been sold to players and supporters, raising over £600 for the Royal British Legion.

The grassroots club has 21 teams and over 250 registered players, playing in various leagues across Wiltshire. It has mixed junior teams from Under 6 through to Under 16, plus several girls teams.
