A MAN accused of flytipping schoolwork and other litter will face magistrates next month.

Ryan Clegg was hauled before Swindon justices on Saturday morning after failing to appear before the court in September accused of permitting the dumping of controlled waste on Gloucester Road, Lower Compton, failing to take protective measures when managing waste and acting as an unregistered waste carrier.

The 39-year-old of Whittle Avenue, Calne, said the papers had not been delivered to his parents' address and he had been away at the time of the court hearing.

There were questions asked about why the warrant for Clegg’s arrest had been given to Wiltshire Police to execute rather than Wiltshire Council. The council is typically the organisation that brings prosecutions under the Environmental Protection Act.

Magistrates granted Clegg bail to appear before the Salisbury court on December 2.
