FRIENDS and family of a Chippenham drummer, as well as music-lovers, will celebrate his life yet again at an annual memorial concert.

This year will mark 10 years since 42-year-old Mark Guppy died, just a month after his wife gave birth to their second child.

GuppFest 2019 will be the seventh one held in these 10 years.

Jason Guppy, Mark’s brother, is hoping this year will be another success.

The 50 year-old-said: “Mark played in all sort of bands - rock bands and punk bands. This is the sort of music that we will be putting on as well, as a tribute.

“We’re going to run the festival in a similar way that we always do. I think it’s what people have come to like.

“This is the tenth anniversary of Mark’s passing so hopefully we do him justice and it is a fitting tribute.”

GuppFest started in 2010 when all of Mark’s old bands came together to all play at a night of memorial.

Following the success of the original one, family and friends saw no reason to not keep it going and run the event again.

More than 300 people attend the show which runs from midday to 1am.

Last year’s show raised more than £2,000 for charity. This year all the money raised will be donated to Dorothy House in Winsley.

This year will see 11 bands grace the stage as they rock out in memory of Mark.

GuppFest 2019 will be held at the Constitutional Club, Foghamshire, Chippenham, on November 23.

Tickets cost £5 each and they can bought on the door. The club is fully licensed so there will be a bar serving alcohol, but no food catering has been organised.

Confirmed bands are: Biarritz, Lightning Hobos, The Skandals, Sleepwalkers, Mosaic Dogs, Severance, Nobody’s Heroes, Funkinsteins, Clark and the Kryptonites, 24 Fallen and AFK.
