A SECRET meeting of members of Swindon Borough Council will have to be reconvened after councillors asked to see a report recommending changes to the upper management structure at Euclid Street.

The meeting of the special committee on Monday was called to approve a plan to change the layer of paid officials at the council beneath the chief executive Susie Kemp.

As part of the plan, which will include recruiting new staff, the post of director of finance could be elevated to full membership of the corporate management team.

But councillors at the meeting said they were concerned the proposals had not been circulated among all elected members.

Ms Kemp said that was in order to ensure staff who could find their jobs at risk through the reorganisation wouldn’t find out through the report’s circulation in stead of a formal legal consultation.

Councillors asked for the meeting to be adjourned and reconvened at 5pm on Thursday, November 21 after the report is circulated to all 57 elected members.
