A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested after an assault in Wood Farm involving a man who later died.

Police said today that the teenage boy from Oxford had been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm.

He remains in police custody.

It comes after a man in the Wood Farm area of Oxford was assaulted on October 27.

Police said that between 2pm and 4pm a man in his forties was assaulted at Wood Farm Woods or possibly outside the shops at Atkyns Road, Wood Farm.

The man received injuries to his body and officers believe that some type of weapon was used.

The assault was reported to police after the man attended hospital on November 4.

On November 12 the man died and his next of kin have been informed.

At this stage the death is being treated as 'unexplained' and while a Home Office post-mortem has been carried out the cause of death has not yet been established.

Thames Valley Police said that further work is to be undertaken by the coroner and officers to establish the cause of the man's death.

Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Riddell of Force CID based at Oxford, said: "We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this assault and we have made an arrest.

"We would ask anyone who is in the area of Wood Farm Woods, or at the shops on Atkyns Road, Wood Farm on Sunday 27 October between the times of 2pm and 4pm who has seen a disturbance to please come forward."
