A HOUSING developer with projects in construction around the Swindon area won a health and safety award for the second year running from the UK’s largest construction safety group.

GreenSquare Homes has a number of housing developments in the town and its outskirts, including Blunsdon Meadow in Blunsdon and Hares Chase near Cricklade.

Its managing director Barry Wood said: “It is an excellent achievement for us to win the award for a second year.

"It demonstrates the continued efforts of our colleagues in making sure that health and safety is a top priority in everything that they do day in and day out.”

The Building Safety Group held its fifth annual Health and Safety Awards ceremony earlier this month to mark the achievements and excellence of its members in work-related health and safety performance.

GreenSquare Homes went home with the award for the 'Member of the year – Central and South’ category.

To be eligible for this award, the BSG members needed to demonstrate that they had a framework in place to improve safety and health performance during all stages of a construction project.

These stages included planning, design and post-construction.

BSG managing director Paul Kimpton said: “It is members like GreenSquare who make a significant contribution to raising the bar when it comes to health and safety standards across the sector, and we offer them our sincere congratulations.

“Recognised award winners like them should be immensely proud of their achievement and highly commended for their admirable approach to reducing risk in the workplace."

“This awards ceremony was once again a national celebration of our members’ dedicated commitment to health and safety in construction.

The housing developer already celebrated awards success in the summer when two of their site managers each won a Pride in the Job Award from the National House Building Council.

Paul Edwards and Martin Bance each won a Quality Award for building homes of exceptional quality at their Swindon developments
