FOUR burglars demanded money and drugs from frightened homeowners during an aggravated burglary.

The men went into a house on Chandos Close just after midnight on October 20 and insisted that the people who lived there hand over cash and contraband.

The house's occupants are in their 20s and told the men they didn’t have anything to hand over. The men left a short time later with a small amount of cash.

Detective Constable Nigel Bullimore of Swindon CID said: “We believe this was a case of mistaken identity.

"Understandably, it caused the occupants a huge amount of distress and upset in their own home where they should feel safe.

“They were able to convince the men that they had no drugs to hand over and eventually they left with just a small amount of money.

“The occupants did not notice any vehicles outside their address at the time of the incident, so it is believed the offenders arrived and left on foot.

“This is a residential area so I believe there may be witnesses who could have seen this group arrive or leave the address. If you can help with our enquiries, please do get in touch.”

The suspects are all described as male and aged in their late teens to late 20s, They were dressed in black with their faces covered.

Anyone who can help police with their enquiries should call 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
