Christmas and Black Friday are coming together in the town centre.

InSwindon BID is determined to make sure that Black Friday isn’t just about the discounts by making sure festivities continue throughout the day.

A spokesperson for InSwindon said: “Black Friday is an excellent opportunity for shoppers to grab a bargain in the lead up to Christmas.

“Shoppers are expected to spend £2.52 billion on Black Friday across the country this year which is encouraging news for town centres and high streets including Swindon.

“We are encouraging people to support our town centre business, shop local and experience our festivities.”

The Christmas period launched on November 16 with the lights switch-on and continues with a German Christmas market on The Parade and a Santa’s grotto in the Brunel centre.

The InSwindon spokesperson added: “There’s plenty going on for all the family, with events throughout the town centre.

“We’ll be promoting additional Black Friday special offers through our Facebook and Twitter pages, which will highlight even more opportunities for shoppers to save money.”

The business organisation confirmed that discounts will be available from stores such as Debenhams, House of Fraser and JD Sports.

With the big money that can come from the Black Friday event, the town centre will be hoping to increase footfall after stores including Thorntons and Argos closed.
