MORE than 140 trains will serve Bath Christmas market on Saturday as tens of thousands of people are expected to flood the city over the weekend.

Between 7am-10.03pm there will be a train at Bath Spa station every six minutes for the first Saturday of the hugely popular market.

Great Western Railway are laying on 29 extra services on top of the usual Saturday timetable, but those travelling at the busiest times are being warned that they may have to queue to board trains home.

Bath Spa Station Manager Peter Jobson said:

“With new Intercity Express Trains now in full service, and extra carriages added to many other services, we are able to provide more than 60,000 seats for this Saturday’s Bath Christmas Market.

“As we welcome people to the city we would like to remind them that the station will be very busy for some periods and customers may experience a more comfortable journey by travelling outside of the peak times.

“Our friendly and approachable staff will be on hand to help keep people moving. Those travelling should also allow time for their journeys as the station will be very busy.”
