CONFUSION over a labourer’s home address saw him hauled to court by police.

Martin Wesley, 34, had been due before Swindon Magistrates’ Court in early October for failing to do unpaid work sessions.

But the builders’ labourer, who mainly works in Swindon and sofa surfs with friends, didn’t get the letters.

Claire Hyde, for the National Probation Service, told magistrates that there had been confusion over where Wesley, of Penwood, near Newbury, was saying.

He had previously told officers he was moving to Swindon. But when checks were later conducted they found he had not been living

there.

Magistrates marked the breach of the community order with an extra seven hours of unpaid work.

Chairman of the bench Andrew Brown said: “You need to talk to probation so they know where you are living so you don’t get these warrants issued.”
