HUNDREDS of children in Swindon are living precariously, a report has revealed.

The report conducted by homeless charity Shelter showed that 10 children lose their home every day in the South West.

And 258 children in Swindon are living in temporary accommodation, ranking Swindon the area with the sixth highest proportion of homeless children in the region.

Shelter Bristol hub manager, Penney Walster said: "The fact 10 children in the South West become homeless every day is scandalous figure, and sharp reminder that political promises about tackling homelessness must be turned into real action.

"Every child has the right to a safe home and if we act now, our frontline advisers can support more homeless families in the South West to get to a better place. Every donation will help Shelter to be there for everyone who need us this Christmas."

The charity is calling on every political party to put housing at the top of its domestic agenda and is asking the public to support its urgent Christmas appeal.
