Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green Party candidates debated the current state of the health service at a hustings event.

All the candidates present have expressed their fear of seeing the National Health Service taken by the US in a post- Brexit deal.

And Conservative ministers were accused of presiding over the ‘systematic vandalism’ of the NHS.

Here’s what you told us on our Facebook page...

David King: “The NHS never has and never will be for sale ever! I no longer fall for that old chestnut.”

Andy Hannath: “We all have a responsibility to save our NHS, vote Labour so that your family benefits.

“If kids need healthcare they can’t afford they’ll ask their parents or grandparents with help paying.

“I know Boris made a statement about this. Boris’s words (or should I say Dominic Cummings words) were chosen carefully, all he said was the NHS will never be for sale.

“I don’t believe they would sell the NHS but that is very different to privatising it and allowing the USA many more contracts and much more access.”

Adrian Thompson: “Don’t ever forget it was Labour that sold out PMH and stitched the health authority into GWH at 1.5 million pounds annually.”

Helen Von Steuben: “A lot of the health services are already privatised due to the contracting out by the CCG”

Mike McCoy: “Out of the 100 years of the NHS, the Tories have seen 70 years in power and never sold it.

“When Blair came to power he started selling bits off to his mate Branson, so let’s have no delusion to who the culprits are.

“Now Labour have the audacity to accuse Tories of selling off the NHS, unbelievable!”

Phil Paton: “And if you believe the NHS will be sold then you are very gullible.”

Tammi Violet Midwinter: “Here’s a idea. Instead of slagging it off all the time, find the problem and try to get it fixed.”

Daniel Adams: “It's absolutely brilliant to see how the people of Swindon are not falling for these Labour lies. It's absolutely awful the tactics of fear and division labour are using to try and divide us all.”

Phil Crook: “They’ve peddled this rubbish for so long now they actually believe it, they really do treat the electorate as idiots, and they will get hammered in a couple of weeks for it.”

Martin Costello: “I applaud Buckland and Tomlinson for heeding my warning about this group and not wasting their time.

“A covert Labour group with no doubt the local open borders Labour mob clapping any uncosted nonsense coming out of Sarah’s mouth.

“The greatest threat to the NHS is the EU, another reason we need to escape from this cancer.

“It is a disgrace that the NHS is being used as a political football for votes.”

Sam Taylor: “It won’t be a straight forward “sale”.

“It will be a gradual process of selling off contracts and services to private companies – a process which has already started.”

‘StillPav’: “The irony is, if you look at healthcare systems around the work which outperform the NHS, of which there are many, they all include a mix of public and private providers.

“Therefore, Labour’s position has got nothing to do with providing better healthcare and everything to do with political dogma.”

‘MyCatSays’: “ Both Conservative and Labour governments have been happy to outsource some NHS services.

“It’s questionable if this is an effective solution, but it’s not privatisation of the NHS.

“And there is no suggestion that people will have to start paying for NHS treatment for these outsourced services.”
