Environmental groups in Swindon have joined together to host a climate hustings.

The event, called Action or Extinction, will be held at New College on December 9 at 7pm.

Groups including Swindon Climate Action Network and Extinction Rebellion are inviting the public to bring their questions for the candidates.

Candidates from North and South Swindon have been invited with Labour, Liberal Democrats and Green all accepting. Organisers have said that the invitation is still open for the Conservative candidates.

However, South Swindon Conservative candidate Robert Buckland confirmed he won't be attending saying: "I was delighted to take part in both the hustings in the Royal Oak in Bishopstone on Monday night and the Swindon Advertiser's joint hustings with the BBC on Tuesday night.

"On both occasions, I was very happy to answer questions about the huge importance of climate change and the Conservatives' pledge to make the UK carbon neutral by 2050."

He added he would be spending the last days of the campaign by 'knocking on as many doors as possible'.

South Swindon Conservative candidate Justin Tomlinson did not respond when asked if he would be attending.
