CAROLS by candlelight and a civic service will be held at a Highworth church next week.
Mayor Julia Bishop has helped organise the service at St Michael’s Church on Sunday December 15 from 5pm.
Other mayors from around Wiltshire and neighbouring counties will attend along with the commander of RAF Fairford.
All money raised will go towards Coun Bishop’s chosen charity Prospect Hospice. The hospice’s director Irene Watkins will give a short address to the gathered guests during the service.
Eloise Murby will perform carols. She said: “I grew up in Highworth and came to this church quite often, I love how they’ve renovated it, it’s beautiful.
"This will be a great opportunity and I'm looking forward to it."
Mulled wine and mince pies will be offered after the service ends.
A 4pm crib service will be held at the Podium on Christmas Eve, followed by a communion at 11.30pm.
The Holy Communion service at St Michael’s will begin at 10am on Christmas Day.
