THOUSANDS of pounds worth of suspected stolen goods were discovered at a property in Westlea.

Police visited the address in Watercrook just after 7am on Friday morning after receiving reports pilfered items were being sold from there.

A large number of household goods, clothing and electrical equipment were found and a woman in her 40s was arrested. She was taken into custody at Gablecross on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

Supt Phil Staynings said: “This was an excellent find by officers which has led to a really significant amount of suspected stolen goods being located and seized, and one woman arrested.

“Given the time of year officers and staff are on the front foot across Swindon and actively scanning social media for the sale of stolen property.

“Some of the items located today include household goods, clothing and electrical equipment – collectively the items are worth several thousand pounds.

He added: “It’s really important that if the public sees suspicious activity, especially via online selling sites such as Facebook Marketplace, that you report it to police so we can investigate and take action where appropriate.”
