1. Stolen 1839 clock found and restored in time for hospital's 180th anniversary

The historic clock was stolen 15 years ago from the hospital but has been found in time for the big anniversary.

It was standing half way up the original staircase when it was nabbed but since was spotted in an auctioneer's catalogue by a local clock maker and repairer.

2. Fish and chip shop proposal to be voted on by Reading Borough Council

The plans for a new fish and chip shop are up the air as plans 'baffled' the councillors and planning officers.

Applicants hope to open the new takeaway in the disused Natwest bank in Christchurch Road with homes above.

3. Newbury Dogs Trust looking for new home for Whippet cross, Harvey

Are you a fan of dogs and could potentially give 'happy chap' Harvey a forever home?

The eight-month-old whippet cross is a 'bouncy boy' in need of a loving family as he currently is being cared for at Dogs Trust Newbury.

4. Squatters can stay at derelict pub for now as hearing adjourned

The Red Lion pub on Southampton street has been turned into a political space by a group of squatters.

The group are currently facing court proceedings to be moved on but they hope to stay over the winter period.

5. Parents could be trapped in Lidl lockdown in the event of a nuclear emergency

Reading Chronicle:

Lidl wants to build a new store in Tadley, on the border of West Berkshire, but there are concerns over the proximity to AWE.

A planning application that has been put forward has prompted concerns that a lockdown may be necessary in store if there was an emergency.
