A TEENAGE boy was headbutted by a man as he crossed the road by The Bell pub in Devizes.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault which happened just before 1pm on December 4.

A police spokesman said: "A 16-year-old boy was with friends outside The Bell pub by the traffic lights waiting to cross the road.

"As he crossed the road, a man walked towards him and made threats to assault him.

"He then headbutted the boy which left him feeling very shaken up and frightened."

The suspect is described as white, with short blonde hair and scars on his face. He had half of his face covered and was wearing a tracksuit.

Acting Insp Pete Foster said: “This appears to be an unprovoked assault which has left a teenage boy feeling very anxious.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident – it happened at what would have been a fairly busy time of the day on a Thursday which is market day in Devizes. I am sure someone would have seen what happened – if you were driving through Devizes and have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle, please get in touch.”
