POLICE have confirmed that a man's body has been found at a street in Farnworth.
Trentham Close, off Gladstone Road, was cordoned off during the night at the corner with Bentinck Street as a large number of officers arrived.
Witnesses have reported seeing a white crime scene investigation tent set up in an alleyway behind homes on the street.
A spokesman for GMP said the death was "not suspicious".
He added: "Police were called shortly before 5.45am this morning to reports of a concern for welfare outside an address on Trentham Close, Bolton.
"Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a 45-year-old man who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers aren’t treating the death as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner."
Police investigators spent the early morning knocking on doors and speaking to residents.
One resident told The Bolton News she had woken up to discover the area had been taped off.
She said: "It was a bit of a shock, it was there when I got up. The police were her for a while but nobody really knew what happened and then they said they'd found someone's body."
Another man, who works in the area, added: "The road was closed when we arrived this morning and they police told us we couldn't go through.
"I was told there was a man's body but when we got here they had covered it up with that tent."
The identity of the man is currently unknown.
