Gateway Furniture is thanking everyone who has supported the project this year.

The furniture redistribution scheme has provided 376 local people with 1,504 household items in 2019.

Based at The Trinity Centre in Westlea with a shop in Havelock Square in the town centre, it estimates it has given away £128,325 worth of white goods and furnishings to those in need.

The project, set up by furniture project manager Dawn Prosser in 2010, provides donated furniture, household appliances and electrical items to low-income households free of charge or for a small donation.

It estimates 3,464 items have been saved from landfill.

Andrew Williams, project manager said: “None of this could have happened without the kindness and generosity of both our volunteers and you, the people of Swindon, who come along to our high street shop and buy items from us.”
