NOTHING beats sitting in red comfy seats with your snacks at the ready while watching a performance you will never forget.

Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre will get the year off to a good start with plenty of must-see shows.

Swindon Film Society has picked a Japanese crime and family drama film to roll on the big screen once the panto season ends.

Shoplifters is about Japanese families living on inadequate income causing them to turn to crime to make ends meet. But an unforeseen incident reveals hidden secrets, testing a family’s bond after taking in a little girl.

Tickets cost £9 for the show on Wednesday, January 8 at 7.45pm.

Do you fancy A Country Night in Nashville?

Artists will be celebrating country music’s greatest hits on Thursday, January 9.

So for a night in Nashville with music written by Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson, Dixie Chicks and Willie Nelson, you just have to at the Wyvern for 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £29.50 to see some classics performed.

Due to the phenomenal success of BBC Radio 2’s Sounds Of The 60s Live, which toured the UK throughout 2019, a raft of new dates have been added for the new year.

Hosted by DJ royalty Tony Blackburn, the show comes to Swindon on Saturday, January 11 and features songs, stories and memories from the golden decade of pop with music performed live by the Sounds Of The 60s All Star Band & Singers.

Ticket prices start at £34.50.

Here’s one for the adults... Peter Panties has returned to Swindon.

A spokesperson for the Market Theatre Company, which is putting on the risque panto, said: “Our fearless company of three actors return to bring you an evening of corny jokes, raunchy plots and blatant sexual innuendo using a minimum of set props and costume.”

As you can probably imagine, it’s not suitable for under-16s.

But for those who are old enough it will be playing on Saturday, January 25 at 7.30pm.

If that’s not for you the Comedy Club on Saturday, February 1 is likely to make you giggle.

Three comedians are in the line-up to provide a night full of laughs.

Rob Mulholland started his career finding a flyer on the floor for a local festival.

Since then he’s performed across the UK, Norway and Holland.

He is joined in the line-up by Tewkesbury's Jon Wagstaffe and Marti, a German stand-up who tells stories from his day to day life.

The show will be setting the audience off in fits of laughter from 8pm.

If you’re a fan of Pink Floyd then get to the Wyvern on February 7.

The band’s top hits such as Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb will be played.

They will be performed by eight musicians for the concert-based production.

To experience the band being brought back to the stage, tickets are on sale for £27.

The show starts at 7.30pm.

For a good night out and a good laugh there’s also the chance to see Carl Hutchinson.

The comedian has been seen on Comedy Central and The Chris Ramsey Show.

He made his name after his tour I Know I Shouldn’t Behave Like This in 2017 sold out.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: “From buying a house to having kids, Carl takes his unique adolescent approach to grown-up issues.”

Tickets are available for the performance on Saturday, February 8 at 7.30pm.
