A SEX worker denies breaking into an elderly client’s home to steal a mobile phone and £50.

Beverley Knight was said to have burgled the 86-year-old’s Somerville Road house on November 24 last year.

Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning, Knight, 32, who gave a Victoria Road care of address to JPs, pleaded not guilty to burglary.

She acknowledged having gone to his flat but denied stealing the wallet and mobile phone.

The sex worker had known the complainant in the case for 14 years, the court heard.

A tearful Knight was remanded in custody. A trial date could not be set, but Knight will appear before the' court on Friday, January 17, for a case management hearing.

The trial will take place at the magistrates' court.

Kate Prince represented the Crown. Jonathan Lewis appeared for Knight.
