A WOMAN pedestrian who suffered multiple injuries when she was hit by a car earlier today is said to be stable in hospital.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on the B4697 crossroads with Spine Road near Ashton Keynes just after 7am.
The woman, who is in her 50s, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital with pelvic, head and leg injuries, and her condition is described as serious but stable.
The driver of the vehicle, a black BMW, stayed at the scene.
The road was closed until around 12.30pm while investigators probed the cause of the collision.
A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: “We are appealing for anyone who either witnessed the collision, or who saw either the car or the pedestrian shortly beforehand, to contact us. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has dash cam footage.”
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Daniel Laurie, from the roads policing unit on 101.
