NINE flood alerts have been issued for the Swindon area.
The government has warned residents that flooding is possible in the following parts of the borough and wider Wiltshire.
-Tributaries on the Upper River Thames above Cricklade
-River Thames and tributaries from Buscot Wick down to Kings Lock
-River Thames and its small tributaries from Calcutt to Lechlade
-River Kennet and its tributaries from Berwick Bassett down to Newbury
-River Coln and its tributaries
-Groundwater flooding in the Upper Aldbourne Valley
-Groundwater flooding in the Lambourn Valley catchment
-Clanfield Brook for Clanfield Village and the Shill Brook for Bampton
-Upper Bristol Avon area
A government spokesman said: "Property flooding is not currently expected. River levels on the tributaries of the upper Thames are rising steadily following recent rainfall.
"River levels are high and responsive to further rainfall on the River Kennet as a result of a period of sustained rainfall and raised groundwater levels in the area
"River levels are high but steady on the River Coln following a period of sustained rainfall and due to high groundwater levels in the area.
"Therefore, flooding of low lying roads, footpaths and land is expected.
"Please remain safe and aware of your surroundings."
