Veganuary is here and people are giving up meat and dairy. So we asked our readers for a good spot for a vegan meal. This is what they said...

Swindon Advertiser:

THE Bank at Wood Street is a favourite among our readers for a vegan meal.

It’s a bar and restaurant which serves traditional English food from steaks to Sunday roasts.

And for those with a bigger appetite they offer a bottomless brunch and platters.

But the Adver’s readers love to dine here for its vegan options.

Grant Waller told the Adver: “I go to The Bank for a vegan meal, I usually go for the vegan roast dinner.”

The roast is served between 12pm and 5pm and there’s even an option to go bottomless.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Thursday 9am until 11.30pm.

Friday and Saturday 9am until 3am and on Sunday its open 10am until 5pm.

Swindon Advertiser:

FOR Patricia Sitch Indy’s Vegan Kitchen at The Crossing is a winner.

The restaurant serves a variety of plant based meals.

You can get things like chilli and nachos, meatball sub, chilli dog and fully loaded macaroni and cheese.

But the options often get switched up.

Marie Simms said: “Definitely Indy’s Vegan Kitchen. It’s Swindon’s first vegan food only establishment and Victoria Capener does amazing vegan food. Most places offer vegan options which is fab but you can’t beat the vegan only places as you know that there is no risk of being served meat or dairy.”

Its opening hours are 11am until 5pm from Tuesday until Sunday.

But it is closed on Mondays.

Swindon Advertiser:

THE Freke Arms along Cricklade Road in Hampton by our reader Robert Hazell.

He told the Adver: “The Freke Arms on the road between Blunsdon and Highworth do vegan meals and desserts, it’s good value and tasty.”

The pub serves its moving mountains burger and spicy jackfruit and balti.

With the burger is lettuce and tomato served with chips and salad.

The curry is served with rice, naan bread and mango chutney.

It’s a dog friendly pub who give out treats to the furry friends.

Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday 12pm-3pm and again at 6pm-11pm.

Sundays at 12pm until 4pm and closed on Mondays.

Swindon Advertiser:

WAGAMAMA is another popular place to go to for some plant based food.

Shane Halliwell said: “Wagamama does some pretty solid vegan options.”

Wagamama in Swindon can be found in the Swindon Designer Outlet at Kemble Drive.

The Japanese restaurant serves yasai Nikko curry, yasai katsu curry, kare burosu ramen and many other options to choose from.

Its most recent vegan dish to be added to the menu is the vegan suika tuna which is a dehydrated watermelon steak dish.

It is a popular chain which has 135 restaurants across the UK.

It’s open Sunday to Wednesday from 10am until 10pm.

From Thursday to Saturday it is open 10am until 11pm.

Swindon Advertiser:

FOR some of our readers Eggelicious is worthy of being added to the list as one of the best places to go for a vegan meal.

Eggelicious is a cafe that can be found on Wood Street next to Run and was another winner.

It serves a variety of wraps, tapas and desserts.

But on the vegan menu you can build your own wrap or get spinach and potato, saag and sweet potato mix.

Eggelicious was started by Ash Mistry who is a biochemist and cooked eggs for a living.

The cafe has been given 4.8 stars for its delicious food and great service.

Its opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9am until 7pm.

On Friday it opens 7am until 9pm and on Sundays it is closed for the day.

Swindon Advertiser:

ORIENTAL AROMA makes it onto the list for people living in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Carla Shailes told the Adver: “Oriental Aroma is my favourite place to go for a vegan meal.”

The Chinese restaurant at the High Street offers an all you can eat and takeaway as options.

All you can eat is £17.50 between Monday and Thursday and £19.95 for Friday and Saturday.

It offers traditional Chinese food from curries to chow miens.

From Tuesday to Wednesday it is open 5pm until 10.30pm.

The restaurant on Wood Street has been given 4.6 stars by its customers.

It serves a variety of vegetarian food such as burgers, platters and salad but they can be switched up and made vegan.
