MORE than a 1,000 supporters have so far made donations to the Just Giving page set up following the career-ending spinal injury sustained by former Saints prop Mose Masoe.

The giant Samoan prop underwent surgery at the weekend in his spine, after suffering the injury making an innocuous looking tackle in Hull KR's friendly against Wakefield.

The club's Community Trust set-up the page in conjunction with the RFL Benevolent Fund to support Mose and his family during this difficult period and this has already passed £21,000, 84 per cent of its £25,000 target.

Among the donations are one of $1,000 from his former Saints and Samoa teammate Sia Soliola.

He wrote on the Just Giving page: "Just a small beginning of all the love and support that we have yet to give to you guys! Love you family!"

Elsewhere the rugby league community has rallied around and Alex Walmsley, a front row colleague from the 2014 Grand Final, is currently auctioning off his match worn England World Cup shirt.

And Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, another teammate from that Old Trafford triumph, has asked fans to donate to a bucket collection at his testimonial game on Sunday.
