A HOMELESS man accused of helping to rob a pensioner in his own home will face a crown court judge next month.
Simon Huckvale, 31, appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Saturday where he entered no pleas to a charge of robbery.
Prosecuting, Graham Dono said the complainant in the case was a 76-year-old man living on Montagu Street, Rodbourne. It was alleged he had been targeted by Huckvale, another man and a woman. The latter was said to have gone to the man’s house asking for help. A wallet containing £250 was taken along with almost £30 cash that was on view.
Huckvale, of Whitecastle, Toothill, kept his eyes on the floor for much of the 15-minute hearing.
Magistrates remanded Huckvale into custody to appear before Swindon Crown Court on February 21 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
Emma Handslip appeared for the defence.
Two other people are wanted by police in connection with the alleged robbery.
