Police have warned people to be wary of offers to take rubbish way following repeated fly-tipping.
Waste has been dumped on the Fosse Way near Long Newnton.
Malmesbury police have now issued advice, with a post on their Facebook page stating: "Not only does it look unsightly but it can cause damage to the environment and the wildlife.
"The Council will issue hefty fines to persons who fly tip.
"Please be aware of persons offering to take rubbish away for a small cash fee, they are unlikely to be registered to carry waste and will not be taking it to the recycling centre, but will instead dump the rubbish in secluded areas of the countryside.
"Help keep North Wiltshire clean and report any persons involved in this activity, use registered companies who handle waste, if in doubt ask to see their documents. You can also contact Trading Standards to get an approved persons list."
