Detectives are appealing for information after a man was attacked with a bat on the A691 at Witton Gilbert,

near Durham.

Durham Police say it is believed the suspect followed the victim in his car along the road at around 7.30pm on Wednesday December 18. When the victim stopped his vehicle, the suspect got out of his car carrying a bat and hit the victim's head and body causing a broken hand, wrist and cut to the side of his face.

The suspect then drove away from the scene in a blue Ford Focus car.

A 38-year old man was arrested on suspicion of assault but has since been released under investigation.

Police are now keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident.
