LIVE music will be performed in the town centre on Saturday afternoons to help shoppers beat the winter blues.

So far, Grammy nominated singer Matt Cook, soul, funk and reggae duo Brother from Another and musician Steve Lowis have all performed on a stage in The Crossing near Indy's Vegan Kitchen, Franklins and The Soul Shack.

Blues man Steve Morano will play next this Saturday from 3pm to 5pm, followed by acoustic songwriters Burbank on February 1.

The free concerts will continue as George Wilding from Marlborough performs covers and original songs on February 8, then crooner Tom Carpenter will sing in the style of the Rat Pack and Michael Buble on February 15.

Rounding off the winter sessions is Ben Borrill's Coldplay-style vocals on February 22 and covers specialist Robert Bowden on February 29.

Lewis Fagence from the Brunel Shopping Centre said: "Visitors tell us they really enjoy it when we put on live music and last year’s Sunday sessions were well-received.

"We thought we’d try out a winter programme. It’s going well so far and we’ve had some good feedback. We’d be delighted if it was possible for this to become a regular feature. If anyone would like the opportunity to play this Saturday session at The Crossing in the future they should contact me so we can discuss it further.”
