ROYAL Wootton Bassett library will close for one day on Wednesday, February 5.

It is one of the eight across Wiltshire – as well as all mobile libraries – shutting for staff training.

Four further libraries will be open for self-service, while another 10 will be operated by volunteers and open as usual.

Wiltshire Council's cabinet member for libraries Allison Bucknell said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but we have chosen a Wednesday to keep disruption to a minimum, as this is the day when the fewest libraries are open.

“We don’t take the closure of libraries lightly, but we hope residents will bear with us as this is the first full training day for libraries staff for several years.

Customers will not need to return books due on February 5 beforehand and any fines due will not be charged on that day.

The libraries closed are: Bradford on Avon, Chippenham, Malmesbury, Marlborough, Salisbury, Trowbridge,Warminster, Royal Wootton Bassett, North, South and Special Services mobile libraries.
