Here's the courts' top five cases this week.

MARCUS ARMSTRONG

A SPECIAL constable pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.

Marcus Armstrong, of Frome Road in Trowbridge, had to call the police station after detectives arrested his brother by mistake, a court heard.

He had a stash of abuse images including pictures of babies and pre-teen children.

They included 146 images in category A - the most serious, 143 in category B and 169 in category C.

The 38-year-old admitted possession of the indecent images of children and was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years.

 

ALIN BALAN

A ROBBER forced a serrated knife into a woman’s mouth and demanded that she hands over her valuables.

Alin Balan, 26, attacked the woman in an alleyway off of Shelley Street on November 26 last year.

He held the knife to her throat before sticking the blade in her mouth and stole jewellery worth £50.

Balan, formerly of Radnor Street, pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of a knife.

He was remanded in custody to be sentenced on February 24.

 

TYLER VERNON and JORDAN DUNN

TWO men pleaded guilty to affray and one admitted to possession of a stun gun disguised as a torch.

Tyler Vernon, 26, of Naunton Road, Walcot, pleased guilty to affray and possession of a disguised firearm but denied possession of a bladed article on Regent Street.

Jordan Dunn, 25, of Walter Close in west Swindon, pleaded guilty to affray.

These charges all relate to an alleged incident on January 14 last year on Regent Street in the town centre.

The case has been adjourned to Tuesday February 18 for sentence.

 

RYAN JONES

A ROBBER with what appears to be a trouser leg over his head to disguise his face has been jailed.

Ryan Jones from Trowbridge an an unidentified accomplice were caught on CCTV storming the Central Convenience Store in Winsley on May 24 last year.

They demanded the shop assistant Tarran Prior to open the till and stole cigarettes before running out of the shop.

Jones, 29, with no fixed address shook his head as the guilty verdict was read on Wednesday afternoon.

Judge Jason Taylor QC jailed jones for three years and one month.

 

WARREN FENTY

A ROAD rage driver drove his Ford Focus toward a man who had told him off for dropping litter.

Warren Fenty, 22, of Blackthorn Way, Staverton, appeared before Salisbury Crown Court before being jailed for more than three years.

Fenty admitted to dangerous driving, ABH and possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

Fenty was driving his Ford in August 2018 on Marston Road, Trowbridge, when the man in his 40s told him off.

He drove his car at the victim before turning at the last minute, the passenger side of the car struck the man who sustained minor injuries.

Three months later, Fenty was driving a Ford Transit when he was stopped by police. The van was searched and officers found cash and a stash of cocaine.

He has been jailed for three years and three months and banned from driving for three years and one month.
